Carrie Welch has a long standing background in health and wellness. She worked as a licensed massage therapist for 12 years, studying in depth the intricacies of the human body and nervous system. After taking time off to care for her mother during cancer treatments and needing to change careers due to her own injuries and physical limitations, she chose to dive into a deeper study of mindfulness and meditation. Ultimately losing her mother to cancer, she decided to spend a month in India in search of healing through Yoga. After intensive study and practice at the Ashram, Paramanand Institute of Yoga Science, she received her 200 hour yoga teacher’s certification. Since then she has received certifications in restorative yoga, therapeutic yoga, yoga for trauma, and yoga for cancer. She has now been teaching yoga for over a decade offering a style that suits anyone who walks into her class. She offers chair yoga, yoga for injury recovery, gentle yoga practices, trauma-informed yoga, yoga for nervous system regulation, self-compassion, mindfulness and meditation. While working as a yoga instructor she decided to return to University to obtain a Master’s in clinical mental health. Through her studies in mental health she has developed a system of empowerment for her clients. This system helps them find a sense of control in their lives through boundaries, self-confidence and assertiveness. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in creative writing which has given her a unique perspective on journaling as a creative outlet for processing emotions and finding healing. She uses this tool often in her individual sessions with clients, especially with grief counseling. Carrie has continued her studies, diving deep into understanding somatic practices for healing trauma with Somatic Experiencing and Polyvagal theory. She combines her expertise on yoga with mindfulness and somatic therapies as well as her tools for empowerment to help her clients and students build self-awareness, process emotions, and understand their nervous systems for regulation and healing.

“I believe our experiences are our greatest teachers and we are all capable of insurmountable strength and courage. This is what I like to help my clients discover within themselves.” - Carrie

Is this right for you?

“While I have experience working with a variety of clients, my area of specialty is therapy for nervous system regulation and personal empowerment. I often find that grief, trauma and anxiety to be interconnected with many different life experiences. Some of these are traumatic and leave us reeling in the aftermath, some are difficult life transitions, and others stem from experiences rooted in our past. Regardless of where, what or why, there are ways to overcome and move past symptoms of anxiety and deepen our sense of empowerment. There are ways to heal. Often these ways take practice and consistency. This is my area of focus. If this sounds like something you would like to talk about, click the link below.

A few of my in-session interventions involve mindfulness and grounding exercises, breath techniques, meditative visualizations, gentle body movements, building boundaries, cognitive behavioral skills, creative journaling, as well as somatic practices. I like to help clients build self-awareness and a deeper emotional intelligence, which helps increase resilience and our overall sense of well-being. I am happy to answer any questions to see if this is the right fit for you.” - Carrie
